As I previously wrote, I am in the beginning process of raising support to go minister in Heidelberg, Germany. I am seeking previous and new partners to come alongside me to help in this process. Help is found through prayer, financial support, and through encouragement.
Prayer is going to be essential. I continue to ask prayer for unity between myself, Pioneers (sending agency), and The Church at Brook Hills (sending church). I ask prayer for unity between myself and Pioneer missionaries, Alan and Mary who are currently severing in Heidelberg. Lord willing, I will join them in August 2015. I ask prayer for strength throughout this process as it seems to be a daunting task. As the Lord leads you, pray for me during this time.
Financial support is the daunting task that lies ahead. Working together with Pioneers and Alan and Mary, we have set my current budget at $4,300 per month. I agree this is a lot of money to raise, however, the exchange of dollars to euros has to be taken into account. The budget consists of 2 parts: personal expense and business expense. Personal expense covers personal allowance, rent/utilities and taxes, such as Social Security. Business expense covers all field travel, field training and conferences, health insurance, and home leave travel required by Pioneers. An additional one time departure expense will cover 6 months of language school, travel to Germany, visa expense, home set up, equipment expense, and Launch (Pioneers pre-departure training all Pioneer missionaries must attend before departing for the field).
Pioneers takes 12% of every dollar given to cover US services and administration such as receipting gifts, sending donor statements, and maintaining legal compliance with Pioneer’s financial activity. Ten percent is taken out while in the States then upon departure to the field they will take out the additional 2% for international leadership, that provides care and accountability to missionaries and missionary teams.
When it comes to finances, I want to be open and honest not only with Pioneers, but also with you as a ministry partner. If there is ever a concern or question about where or how your donation is being spent, please ask!
Words of encouragement are great. Just a few weeks ago I received a letter from friends saying they were praying for me. I was greatly encouraged knowing that they were remembering me in prayer.
