At the end of World War I, the people of Germany felt defeated, humiliated, and were in complete despair. The Treaty of Versailles, that ended the war, had roughly 440 clauses in it that dealt with the Central Powers. Of those 440, about 414 of the clauses were directly focused on Germany. With a country torn apart by war and suffering under punishment from other countries, the people of Germany were looking for their “savior” and someone to come restore German honor. Unfortunately, that man came to be known as Adolf Hitler.
Hitler helped to restore German honor, prosperity, and glory. During his time as Chancellor, he would eventually lead Germany into World War II. At the end of the War, the people of Germany once again were forced to feel the defeat, humiliation, and despair of a conquered nation. The allies divided the country granting freedom in the west and allowing communism in the east. It is no wonder that with the past 100 years of German history, the German people view religion as being pointless and they have almost universally turned their back on God.
Today the people of Germany are still seeking a “savior”. Sadly some look for a cheap substitute while others continue to shun religion all together. It is my desire to follow God’s direction for my life which is leading me to Germany to proclaim the truth of the only true Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. I will be traveling to Heidelberg, Germany July 3rd to the 14th to meet other Pioneer missionaries to learn how I can become part of their team and help them in their ministry in Germany. This is a stepping-stone to eventually serving the Lord full-time in Germany.
I ask specifically that you would pray the Lord would guide me on this trip. Please pray that the current Pioneer missionaries, Alan and Mary, and I would have a common purpose of ministry. Pray that our relationship would be such that they will request that I officially become part of their team. Also, please pray for financial provision for this trip. The total cost is $2500 which includes airfare and train passage.
