A few weeks ago, I began the process of completing a mission application with a mission agency, to work toward becoming a missionary to Germany. The agency is Baptist International Outreach (BIO), out of Tennessee.
I have set a timeline of about 2 years (this is subject to change) till I am able to move to Germany, if the Lord allows me to be accepted by BIO. The beginning stage right now is meeting with the Mission Department at my home church, which is The Church at Brook Hills, in Birmingham, AL.
I do foresee this as being a long process, and ask for your prayers during this time as I seek guidance from my parents, mentors, and leadership at Brook Hills.
It is my desire to serve and to bring glory to God however He can use me. As I carry out this process, I am looking at possible ministry opportunities. I am in contact with one of the pastors I have worked with in the past, in hopes to team up with him and the ministry that he is involved with outside of Stuttgart. This will be an opportunity for me to work alongside German nationals and continue to learn the German culture and the language. Along with these plans, I will continue to focus on learning the German language. I desire to be able to speak the German language; so that I will be able to serve and minister to the people of Germany in a more effective way.
I am planning another trip to Germany in the summer of 2012 for about 2 weeks at the end of July.
I will try to be more persistent in blogging and up-dating on where I am in the mission process. I pray that I am able to make the final application in March.
This is just a quick up-date on where I am in my life right now.
Thanks for your prayers and support.
In Christ,
Tyler A. Bowman
